Responsible use of resources

OUR APPROACH

Resource preservation is a fundamental aspect of our innovation agenda. We believe that renewable resources are a central element for future-fit growth and prosperity. Our fibers are an example for this approach.

Our fiber production relies on a range of different resources procured from carefully selected partners. Our most important resource is renewable: natural wood – from which we extract pulp. Sustainable wood and pulp sourcing as well as responsible water stewardship are defined as two prominent focus areas in Lenzing’s sustainability strategy, as described in the Annual and Sustainability Reports.

Lenzing has put in place a strict, group-wide set of rules for all purchased resources. Our Global Supplier Code of Conduct requires all suppliers to comply with certain standards regarding health, safety, respect for human rights, environmental protection, ethical principles and management practice. Becoming a Lenzing supplier means adhering to these principles, without compromise.

The Lenzing Group and our suppliers are assessed annually by EcoVadis, a sustainability ratings provider for global supply chains. In the latest assessment, the Lenzing Group was again awarded EcoVadis Platinum status.

Towards a circular future

The resources of our planet are finite. Therefore, we promote the principles of the circular economy as a future-oriented approach to responsible resource management within our industry.  By applying these principles, including the efficient use, reuse, and recycling of materials, we aim to contribute to resource conservation and reduce waste generation. The sustainable use and processing of raw materials are important elements of our environmental management. Through our circular economy initiatives, we support the transition from traditional linear consumption models towards a more resource-efficient value chain.
