Purpose & key responsibilities of the role
- Maintaining continuous plant & equipment to the specified safety, quality, environmental & reliability standards, working individually with minimum supervision or as part of a team, while following SHE procedures, SWP’s & permits to work
- Scoping, identifying and purchasing materials needed to carry out required work
- Using a 5Y process to help identify the root cause of equipment failure; and proposing solutions
- Working with and supervising contractors during maintenance operations (at times leading small groups of contactors around specific work activities); and acting as Work Competent Person, Person In Charge of Work and Responsible Person for Isolations
- Ensuring all work is controlled and documented in SAP
- Following all core SWP’s, assisting in their further development; and contributing to the continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and systems
- Ensuring that housekeeping standards in the workshop and out on the plant are maintained, and reporting any incidents (safety, quality & environmental) to minimise the risk of recurrence
Our expectations for this exciting role
- A time served tradesperson with a recognized Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship
- HNC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- Experience in maintenance of rotating equipment (eg gearboxes, pump, fans); and the ability to understand the specific maintenance requirements for specialized Lyocell equipment
- Demonstrable experience of working to safe systems of work, including creating risk assessments and implementing hazard control
- The ability to work to deadlines, with a flexible, collaborative approach, a positive can-do attitude, good communication skills, and a willingness to adopt new practices
- Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised, and willing to take responsibility for your own performance
- Responsible, adaptable, ethical, and organised
- Willing to actively participate in the call out rota and be available for reasonable levels of overtime to maximise plant availability.
- A Fork Lift Truck licence is desirable but not essential, as training will be given

The gross annual salary for this position will be £41,879.
