Naturally sustainable

Our goal is to act in a responsible, environmentally sound and socially compatible manner in all our processes and activities. Strict standards, the comprehensive know-how of the Lenzing Group in wood sourcing and efficient management systems already ensure the highest level of environmental compatibility in the procurement of wood and wood chips. We pay attention to ensure that wood is primarily procured from nearby sources. Our pulp production also takes place on the basis of the best possible, environmentally-friendly technology.

Sustainability based on know-how

Thinking in cycles is the basis for the technology used in Paskov. In our pulp production we apply closed production cycles to the greatest possible extent, for example with respect to water. 100 percent of the wood is utilized in the biorefinery of Lenzing Biocel Paskov. We manufacture pulp, biorefinery products as well as energy from the wood.

Certified quality

We fulfill all relevant and international standards with respect to sustainability: In general, we procure only strictly certified wood or wood from controlled or certified origins meeting FSC® or PEFC standards

PEFC

Our participation in the “Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) ensures us that we source wood from sustainable forestry. Within the context of this program, these forests are regularly inspected by independent institutes in order to ensure compliance with strict sustainability criteria.

FSC®

The sourcing of wood coming from environmentally friendly forestry is ensured by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C118737) Standards. On behalf of this system, the forestry is regularly assessed for adherence to sustainability criteria through independent audits.

ISO-Standards

Paskov’s pulp production facilities are certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. This confirms compliance with modern quality, environmental, health and safety standards.

State-of-the-art technology

Modern Lenzing technology enables the wood to be decomposed into pulp using the magnesium bisulfite method. The subsequent bleaching takes place without any harmful chlorine but on the basis of oxygen, hydrogen hyperoxide and ozone. Closed loop processes for chemicals and water are environmentally friendly and ensure a minimal use of fresh water.  As a result, Lenzing Biocel Paskov products high-quality pulp and valuable biorefinery products.

Responsibility lived and practiced

Lenzing Biocel Paskov is an important and stable employer in the region. A top priority is to ensure the safety and health of our employees and partners along the value chain. Our primary focus is the safety of the local population. For this reason, the highest priority is attached to ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards and the systematic elimination of risks, dangers and defects along the value chain.

Regional responsibility

For us, responsibility for the surrounding region specifically means support provided to neighboring communities, forestry and regional educational initiatives.

Being good neighbour

As an important employer in the region, we consider providing support to local cultural, educational and sport activities as our responsibility. Our focus is on selected educational initiatives as well as sustainability projects in neighboring communities.

All Life is Chemistry

We have been supporting the “Academic Heyrovsky Secondary Industrial School of Chemicals” in Ostrava for fifteen years, for example by offering internships. We also support the competition for young chemists on a national basis as well as other student competitions. In 2022 we supported the educational project “All Life is Chemistry”. We are also a backer of the Technical Museum in Ostrava.

Wood of Life

We are actively committed to the sustainable use of the forest as a source of raw materials. For this reason, we support the “Wood of Life” foundation. Within this context, more than 200 children recently had the opportunity to visit forests together with forestry experts and to try out forest activities themselves. A timber construction competition and an annual wood festival also contribute to awareness building.
